Beans lower cholesterol. Soluble fiber plays a role in lowering blood cholesterol. And beans have between 3.2 and 5.9 grams of soluble fiber per ½ cup. Studies show that only 10 grams of soluble fiber per day reduces cholesterol by 10%.
