One Small Change = Huge Health Benefits
By Jean Sumner on Jun 16, 2012 in Food and Nutrition, Jean Sumner
If you could make one small change in your diet and experience huge improvements in your health would you do it? Of course you would! Who wouldn’t? Ok then, let’s discuss this change and give you a few ideas on how to implement this in your life. The small change you need to make concerns what you have for breakfast every day.
We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Studies have shown that we perform better if we have a good breakfast. And there is also research that supports eating as soon as you can after you wake up because this revs up your metabolism, so let’s revamp breakfast and watch what happens to your health over the next few months!
Instead of eggs, cereal or a bread based breakfast, why not start the day with fruits and vegetables. There is more and more research concerning the benefits of a diet high in consumption of fruits and vegetables. It is difficult for most of us to consume even the recommended servings of fruits and vegetables, yet we all know we need these nutrient packed foods.
I am certain that you are saying to yourself, great idea , but who has the time! Cereal is so easy, or grabbing a bagel is quick. And you are right, but doesn’t your body deserve the best? And I can show you how to have 3-4 servings of fruits and vegetables in a few minutes, the answer is GREEN SMOOTHIES!
With a good quality blender you can simply combine blueberries, banana and a handful of spinach and make a great drink. Recipes are not necessary; I have used every combination of fruits and vegetables and have never made one I couldn’t drink. However there are lots of recipes on the internet.
The most important part of having a green smoothie for breakfast is to include dark greens, dark greens are very nutritious and most of us do not get enough of these wonderful vegetables. Combining a fruit, berries and dark greens gives you a powerful breakfast. For protein, I add ground flax seed and ground hemp seed to my daily smoothie.
And if you bag the fruits and vegetables that you are going to use in your smoothie in a small bag when you come home from the grocery store this will be one of the quickest breakfasts you have ever made.
The benefits individuals have experienced from adding green smoothies to their diet include the following:
o More Energy
o Improved Digestion
o Fewer Cravings
o Less mood swings
o Weight Loss
o Stabilized Blood Sugars
o Glowing Skin
o Hair and nails grow faster and stronger
Start today and of course it is best to use organic whenever possible!

Jean was diagnosed with cancer in May, 2009 this only served to fuel the flames of her passions and encouraged her to learn more about wellness. This diagnosis actually led to the beginning of World Wellness Education with a mission of “Teaching the world about wellness — one story at a time.”
As Jean pursued alternative methods of treating cancer she met countless individuals who had great stories to tell regarding how nutrition, spirituality and exercise helped them to overcome their various illnesses. Since these stories were moving, motivating and timely she thought that each of these stories may make a difference in others lives. With the knowledge that we learn from stories more quickly than other teaching methods an organization was born in hopes to make a difference in the well being of every individual on the planet.
