Self-Love Journal 4/29/16

I haven’t been journaling much lately, but I have continued on my journey. To catch up on where I am at. I am 21 days into my 90-day health and well-being challenge. The first part of the challenge consists of-of daily walks and an arm challenge. The second part of the challenge is the addition of an Ab challenge that I have completed nine days of. The arm and ab challenge are both 30 days each and when I am through with the arm challenge in will start a leg challenge.

I also started an app called automatic body yesterday that encourages one healthy change per week. This week’s focus is on hydration. I can remember a time when drinking water and staying hydrated was automatic. I honestly never even realized how little water I drink each day now. I do still drink mainly water during the day but trying to get in the water I needed to drink daily yesterday was quite challenging. It made me realize that I have been nowhere close to drinking enough water on a regular basis.

To stay true to my 90-day challenge, I have implemented several measures to ensure my success. My friend Jen is my accountability partner. We are both doing different 90-day challenges, but we text each other when we each have completed our daily challenge. This has helped a lot but during the first few weeks, we would miss a day or two especially on the weekends.

So we decided to step it up a notch, and if we both complete 30 days in a row, then we each get a reward. Jen willjournaling again will take time order something off of her Amazon wish list, and I will get two new tops.

The other thing that I am doing to give me greater odds of success is completing my challenge first thing in the morning when I wake up. This is working out very well. Even though like today, I didn’t want to go on my walk, and I didn’t want to complete my challenges. I did them, though, and I am grateful that I am sticking with them. I am also thankful that I am writing again. I know that this is important for my progress.

Journaling again will take time to get into the habit. Carving out time for me is the greatest obstacle I face and the second obstacle is the desire to do things for myself.

My goal is to write for a few minutes each day after my workout and then to edit everything on Saturday for the Tuesday blog.

Today it ii am happy with the resultss a little after 10, and I have gone for my walk, done my ab and my arm workouts, gone grocery shopping and have completed two loads of laundry.  In just a few minutes I should hear my doorbell for the carpet installers. We can have good intentions, but life happens. I needed to squeeze a few other things into my morning because I won’t be able to leave later today.

I am excited to get new flooring. Today and tomorrow we will get new carpet on the stairs and in all of the upstairs rooms. Then in about ten days we will get the rest of our flooring downstairs and in the bathrooms. Things are a mess right now, but it is going to be so incredibly worth it.

I am noticing some changes physically from this challenge. Unfortunately, I believe I have put on, even more, weight. Ugh, I wish that I could get a handle on the weight issue. However, I am noticing that I am getting stronger in my core and my arms. I may have put on a little weight, but my clothes are fitting me a bit better because of the addition of muscle as well.

Today I did 115 bicep curls, 85 dips, 42 pushups, 95-second punches, 50 sit ups, 150 crunches, 30 leg raises and a 38-second plank. I never thought I could do that many bicep curls, dips, and pushups. However, there is a lot to be said for adding small increments daily to a workout schedule. I am happy with the results I am getting and I feel confident that when we go on our July vacation, I will be comfortable wearing a bathing suit again.
